Technology has brought many positive changes to our lives. But, it also makes us more vulnerable and has given rise to the increasing threat of identity theft.

You can make it more difficult for anyone to steal your personal and financial information by remembering these identity protection tips:
  • Do not share personal information with unknown persons or companies - whether communicated in person, by phone, via email, via text message or on a website.

  • Carry with you only the information you need to minimize your risk if your belongings are stolen.

  • Shred all documents that contain personal information before throwing them away, to thwart "dumpster divers."

  • Guard your mail from theft by depositing outgoing mail in post office collection boxes and promptly removing mail from your mailbox after it has been delivered.
